KOHLER BASALT COLOR COMPLEMENTS OTHER NEUTRALS, EVOKES EMOTION FOR MORE PERSONAL ‘PLACE’

Basalt joins other tactile colors exclusive to KOHLER Cast Iron. As both the kitchen and bathroom markets continue to embrace the influence of natural materials, designers and homeowners are looking for fresh approaches to texture and color to quietly invigorate their environments.

Kohler Co., a global leader in kitchen and bath design and technology, responds with a new addition to its overwhelmingly successful collection of specialty enamels – Basalt. This is a visually textured, cool gray targeted for an exclusive offering of KOHLER Cast Iron products.

Just as KOHLER Sea Salt™ was a whole new way to think about white, Basalt – named for the grayish igneous stone used in therapeutic hot stone spa treatments – offers a rich blending of cool gray values.

“Basalt is a very comfortable gray. It not only resembles a natural stone, it also suggests a look of wool felt or fresh concrete – all things we love to touch,” said Mary Reid, vice president of industrial design for Kohler. “This medium-value gray is easy to work with in relaxing, contemporary environments that are intended to soothe you. basalt Working exceptionally with ceramic, wood, glass, and metal, Basalt will elevate a product’s perception of value more then you thought possible utilizing a color because of the visual character captured within its enameled surface.”

Basalt follows the same proprietary manufacturing process pioneered for Black ’n Tan™, Sea Salt, Cane Sugar™ and other texture colors only available on KOHLER Cast Iron, the material that first differentiated Kohler in the plumbing fixtures industry over a century ago. Basalt is available on select KOHLER Cast Iron products for the kitchen and bath and coordinates well with several existing colors in the KOHLER color palette.
