Kohler Continues Toward $1 Million Donation of Products

Kohler continues to help others in this economy by continuing to educate and help install water saving products.   The following is information I’ve received from a Kohler press release.  Kohler should be commended for its efforts to improved the worlds water supply.    Kohler Continues its One Million Dollars in donations to Habitat for Humanity with its SaveWaterAmerica.com campaign helps build water conservation awareness across the country Closing in on its goal to donate $1 million worth of water-saving plumbing products to Habitat for Humanity, Kohler Co. has already shipped close to $600,000 worth of fixtures and faucets to hundreds of Habitat ‘builds’ across the country. SaveWaterAmerica.com – a viral online

campaign dedicated to educate homeowners how easy it is to save water – launched in January. The campaign pledges to donate $1 million worth of water-saving plumbing products to Habitat for Humanity. Each time an individual visits the Web site and completes a short survey, Kohler donates $1 of product toward the greater $1 million product pledge.

John Engberg of Kohler says: “Kohler recognizes the looming freshwater shortage facing the United States, and that saving water inside the home represents the best opportunity for a family to make a significant difference on their water consumption. The Save Water America campaign is dedicated to educate homeowners, and benefit Habitat for Humanity with donations of KOHLER plumbing products.”

Local affiliates of Habitat for Humanity, such as those in Texas, have built nearly 100 homes with KOHLER water-saving products. The Dallas affiliate has built more than 50 homes. With the use of Kohler’s water-saving fixtures and faucets, these 50 homes could save the city nearly 2 million gallons of water annually. The product donation program with Habitat for Humanity will continue on through 2010, or until the product donation reaches $1 million. Information about water-saving products is easily accessible on the site, which includes a database of available toilet rebate programs throughout the country. These rebates, ranging from $25 to $150, help offset the cost of replacing older model fixtures.

Some of the products Kohler has already donated include high efficiency toilets that save about 15,000 gallons of water annually versus older model toilets. In addition, KOHLER showerheads and faucets that use 30 percent less water without sacrificing performance are also part of the plumbing products package. These plumbing products are easy to install; come in many design styles; and perform to owners’ expectations, added Engberg.

To help homeowners better understand water conservation, Kohler also launched a grassroots campaign, where company experts have visited more than 25 U.S. cities currently facing water shortages. These events demonstrated to consumers the environmental and financial benefits of saving water inside the home – and how easy it is to accomplish.
