Kohler has Made Plumbing Faucets and Fixtures An Art

Artists come from around the world to participated in Kohler’s Arts/Industry program, which has helped to create the Artist Editions of the Kohler product line. The program was developed in 1974 by the John Michael Kohler Arts Center in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The program consists of a ongoing artist-in-residence program that has continued to receive national recognition for its success in bringing the arts and industry together.

The program allows Artists to have the opportunity to spend two to six months creating works of art utilizing industrial materials and equipment. The center is known for its artist-created bathrooms. Throughout the years Kohler has allowed artists from around the world, to put their designs on toilets, lavatories, faucets, accessories, including towel bars, toilet paper holders, and trash cans – also know as floor containers. This is an amazing program and to my knowledge Kohler is the only plumbing faucet or fixture manufacturer that does this. Again this is one of may differences that sets Kohler a part from the other faucets and fixtures manufactures. Everyone see art a little differently, what is your favorite Artist Edition, send a comment and tell us why. Mine is the Peonies and Ivy – the crackle detail in every piece that is produced amazed me the first time I saw it – and still does.
